What are Trackbacks and Pingbacks?

A trackback is defined as a feature that helps a user notify another author that you wrote something related to what he had written on his blog, even without an explicit link to his article.  This can be compared to acknowledgments and references at the end of an academic paper or chapter of a text book.

Pingbacks allow you to notify the author of an article if you link to their article. If their article has pingbacks enabled, they will receive a notification when you have provided a link that leads back to that article.

These two features make blogs interconnected within Empower Network's viral blogging platform.

Both pingbacks and trackbacks will appear as comment notifications in your Kalatu dashboard. These are notifications that alert you to your content being linked by either yourself, or another Wordpress/Kalatu user.
